A large stretch of Staten Island’s busy Forest Avenue will close to vehicular traffic for a giant Oktoberfest celebration on October 1st. The retail-heavy stretch of the avenue between Hart Boulevard and Bard Avenue will be populated with live entertainment, children’s rides, a food court and a beer garden, according to SI Live, as part of the Forest Avenue BID’s continued efforts to introduce large scale food events to the West Brighton neighborhood.
Artist renderings for the Forest Avenue Oktoberfest by Natalie Wisniewski show picnic-style benches and tables set up on the eastern end of the avenue near Metropolitan Avenue, mimicking the beer halls and Oktoberfest celebrations in places like Munich, Germany.
A full vendor list is expected closer to the event, but SI Live notes that local businesses including local haunt Jodys, popular coffee shop Beans ‘n’ Leaves, Burrito Bar and other Forest Avenue business are all represented in the Events Committee.
