“This year, LUMEN Festival will feature both emerging and established artists from around the world, with strong representation from Staten Island, New York this year.  We are thrilled to present our seventh annual outdoor event with lead support from Atlantic Salt Company,” says Christopher Hellstrom, Executive Director at Staten Island Arts.

“Artist participation in LUMEN 2016 addresses concerns around documenting and managing change, ranging from universal to hyperlocal iterations, from landscape to body,” says Monica Valenzuela, curator for the 2016 iteration of the growing LUMEN Festival. “Some of the artists this year are analyzing routines while others are testing methodologies to try to make sense of a changing world. Some of my favorite pieces this year are incredibly nostalgic, celebrating what often sits under our nose, unnoticeably important until your realization on the day that it is no longer there.”
