Native American treasures unearthed during excavation for Staten Island pipeline

Long before Henry Hudson arrived, Native Americans utilized Staten Island’s natural resources. During a recent excavation for a natural gas pipeline, a large cache of Native artifacts – nearly 30,000 pieces between 3,000 and 5,000 years old – was unearthed. The Staten Island Advance reports that these artifacts will find a future home at the Staten Island Museum.
